01The short answer

A leaderboard orders participants by a single score. In Standing, that score is points. More points means a higher place. If two accounts have the same points, the account that reached that score earlier is placed higher. Each calendar month is a season, and on the 1st the season table starts again from zero.

The table is calculated by the Standing server. The app shows the result; it does not keep the score itself.

02Where points come from

Points are added in two ways:

  • In-App Purchase. Point packs and an optional auto-renewing Membership, monthly or yearly, sold by Apple.
  • A short video ad you choose to watch. Points are added after the ad network confirms the video was watched to the end. There is a daily limit, which starts again at 00:00 UTC.

Rank score follows money. Every point of rank score stands for the same amount received, whichever way it comes. For a purchase, that is the amount received from Apple in your App Store country. The exact number of points is shown before you buy or watch.

Every point goes to two amounts at once. Your rank score sets your place. Your balance pays for a nickname, profile marks, mark slots and an Instagram link. Spending balance never lowers your rank score or your place. Membership shares collected on the Hall add extra points to your balance only, never to your rank score.

03How ties are broken

Ties are common at the start of a season, when many accounts hold the same score. Standing breaks them by time:

  1. Accounts with more points are placed higher.
  2. Between accounts with the same points, the one that reached that score earlier is placed higher.
  3. A player who joins starts with zero points, below everyone who joined before.

There is no random draw at any step. The same inputs always give the same order.

Players with zero points who have not opened the app for 30 days stop taking up a place in other players' tables until they come back. The arrow beside your place shows how it has moved since 00:00 UTC.

04Monthly seasons: the table starts again

Each calendar month is a season. A season starts and ends at 00:00 UTC on the first day of a month, and the next one starts at the same moment.

  • When a new season starts, the season table starts again from zero.
  • Everyone who has joined stands at zero in the order they finished the previous season.
  • Your first points of the season put you above everyone who has not started yet.
  • Points count for the season in which the server records them.

Only the season table starts again. Every point you have received stays in your all-time score and your balance. Your tier, everything you have bought, the players you follow and your past results stay too. Monthly seasons and tiers covers what stays in detail.

05Preliminary and final results

When a season closes, its results are preliminary for a few days, as shown in the app, so that reviews and refunds can be completed. Then they become final and are kept in each player's season history.

A final result in the world table can bring a mark on your profile: first place, the top ten, or the top 1%, 5% or 20% of players with season points. These marks cannot be bought.

Your all-time score places you in one of five tiers: Graphite, Ink, Print, Seal and Engraving. A tier never drops with time, seasons or inactivity. Only a reversal of points can lower it.

06Which tables you can see

The same ordering applies across three tables: the world, your country, and the players you follow. The world table and the Following table can also be viewed for all time, ranked by all-time score.

Country tables count only points added under that country. Country tables: how a country is ranked explains how. The full text is in the League Rules.

07Questions

How do leaderboards work?

A leaderboard orders participants by one score, highest first, with a rule for ties. In Standing the score is points, ties go to the account that reached the score earlier, and each calendar month has its own season table.

When does the monthly leaderboard reset?

The season table starts again at 00:00 UTC on the first day of each month. Everyone starts the new season at zero, in the order they finished the previous one. All-time score, balance, tier and past results are kept.

Does a purchase buy a specific place?

No. A purchase buys points, and the exact number is shown before you pay. Your place depends on your points compared with everyone else's. If Apple refunds a purchase, the points it added are reversed.

Is anything in the table left to chance?

No. The order is set only by points and, for equal points, by time. There are no random draws. Points, places and results have no monetary value, cannot be cashed out or transferred, and no place brings a payment or any material benefit. There are no prizes and no payouts.
